Check-In and Registration

Check-in for the PRT Mile Run is conveniently located at the intersection of Eastlake Parkway and Hunte Parkway. Here, participants can pick up their bibs or register on the day of the event. Please arrive early to ensure a smooth start to your race day.

Staging Area

The staging area is set up on Discovery Falls Road, just south of Hunte Parkway and next to High Tech High School. Runners should gather here before the start of the race for instructions and final preparations.

Course Description

This one-mile course features modest elevation changes, making it an ideal setting for both novice and experienced runners looking to test or improve their pacing over variable terrain. The course weaves through scenic surroundings, offering a pleasant visual experience while challenging one’s running efficiency and endurance.

Altitude Change Report

The course exhibits a total ascent and descent of approximately 57 feet. These gradual elevation changes provide a balanced mix of uphill and downhill segments that can help runners enhance their strength and speed management.

Directions to the Course

From the 805 Freeway:

  1. Exit at Olympic Parkway and head east.
  2. Turn right onto Eastlake Parkway.
  3. Turn left onto Hunte Parkway
  4. The course is near the intersection with Discovery Falls Drive.

From the 125 Freeway:

  1. Take the Birch Rd exit and head east.
  2. Turn right onto Eastlake Parkway.
  3. Turn left onto Hunte Parkway
  4. The course is near the intersection with Discovery Falls Drive.

Tips & Tricks

  • Start Strong, but Steady: Begin with a strong and steady pace. The initial flat or slightly inclined sections are perfect for establishing a good rhythm.
  • Manage the Ascents: Focus on maintaining a consistent effort (not pace) on the climbs. Shorten your stride and use your arms for additional leverage.
  • Recover on Descents: Use the downhill segments to recover. Allow gravity to help you, but keep your pace controlled to avoid overstraining.
  • Finish with Power: As the terrain flattens near the end, prepare to increase your pace and finish strong.
  • Regular Training: Regularly training on the course before the actual run can significantly help in understanding the best spots to conserve energy or accelerate.
