My name is Gilberto Cortez and I am a Entrepreneur, a CEO, a USA Certified Coach and a Amateur XC Racer. I’m founder of both Interactive Utopia, a small full service interactive firm a well of GC Termite Control Inc., a technologically advanced full service W.D.O. control and restoration firm. I have completed a bachelors of science in Web Design and Interactive Media from the Art Institute of California – San Diego on 2011. Along with a bachelors I hold multiple licenses from the Structural Pest Control Board of California, a USA Cycling Coaching License, and multiple certifications from various private and government agencies relating to sports science, construction, and on the use and transportation of chemicals.
I grew up in the city of Tijuana, Mexico and attended school there until I was in 7th grade. By 8th grade which was in 2001, my family relocated me to San Diego where I started junior high school at Southwest Junior High. After graduating, I moved to Eastlake High School where I completed my freshman year. And finally in 10th grade I transferred to San Ysidro High School, from whom I received my High School Diploma. After completing high school I attended Southwestern College to try to complete an assosiates in Business Management, however by my second year I realized that it would not be my life calling and I transfered at that point to the Art Institute of California – San Diego. There I pursued my dream of becoming a Web Developer / Marketer and graduated with my Bachelors of Science.
After working in the Internet Marketing and Development business for a couple of years (even before having my degree), I realized that my calling was not working inside of an office nor for someone else. At this point in the year 2010 is where I decided to start my adventure and start GC Termite Control Inc. along with Interactive Utopia, so that I would be able to work on my schedule, under my own rules, and with my high levels of expectation in quality and client satisfaction. After that I have never looked back and I can say that I have only worked hard to become more successful and now fitter with my new calling as both an elite athlete and a USA Cycling Coach.
